Which has more personality?

Oscars hands down have the best personality out of the fish you listed. I've had a few JD's over the years and most could be rather skiddish if they were spooked. I never had a RD, the closest thing I had was a Tri-Mac and she was personable but mostly mean. I love my Jag though, he's mean yet personable. He loves coming up to the glass to flare his gills when I visit him. He also enjoys biting the hand that feeds him!

I am in Michigan, so if you want to drive and pick them up, they are yours.
Ha, thats funny, I am from Michigan (GR area), but I moved down to TN 2 years ago. Much nicer here, although I do miss VIpets in holland. A friend of mine runs it so that was nice. If I lived close I'd deffinately give your JDs a good home. My guess is shipping would be pretty close to what I could just buy them at here. I will probly just stick with two and my two oscars.

Otherwise soon they go back to the LFS...who for some reason does not mind my indecision. :) Of course, we have a good arrangement. I buy fish and give them back for free. Can't beat that.[/quote]
:rofl:Great deal for them! They should at least give ya store credit!!!!

I have 2 O's and the heart-breaker is that they cannot be in the same tank. The one will eat, attack, kill anything I put in the tank and the other is a big baby and afraid of everything.

Mr. Mean - I put some feeder guppies in his tank and they were gone in less than a minute. Mr. Sissy - Had about 15 convict juvies added to his tank for food and he befriended them. I added a Silver Dollar that goes anywhere the Oscar goes and vice-versa. You just can't bet on them being a certain way. With him(?) being such a sissy I hope I can add a second one to his tank.

Mr. Mean will jump up and take the food from my fingers and likes 2 pellets at a time while Sissy-fish waits for them to be dropped into the tank 1 at a time! LOL Gotta love it!

I think there personalities are just different my jack is laid back and just hangs out. While my oscars....well as described above they are just gleaming with energy and personality.

Thanks for the comments. The reason I ask is that I was told that JDs have as much or more personality than Oscars, but I am not finding that. Yes, the JD babies come for food, but there is something more in an oscar.

Last weekend, I picked up a white oscar, and I tell ya...he has more personality than any of those JDs! When I decided on JDs for the 75g, I did consider oscars, but I figured I had better get outside of my little box. Forget that...back in the box I go.

Even my wife has noticed my big oscar's personality. So, I think I am going to get a couple more baby oscars and see how it shakes out.

I will be getting rid of four JD babies for sure. I think I will keep one of them and put it with my big oscar. I know what will happen. The JD will turn out to be my favorite fish.

So what fish do you have in what tanks?
You know a 75g tank is only big enough for one oscar with no other fish don't you?

I have one of my Oscars (12" +/-) in a 90 with an 11" Pleco and a 4" pink convict and I consider that to be a full tank.

I have 2 large Oscars also, Boss1 takes care of our Sissy Oscar, Sissy rolls his eyes, lays sideways when uneasy, and Boss1 "protects him" from what scares our Sissy. I placed 2 rebellious Red Jewels in with them, and it seems to have given Sissy a bit of sass, he has found he can scare the Jewels, a little. So, I also agree, Oscars have the personality, and for friends I recommend Jewels. I have also tried feeding live to them, convict fry, I placed in 10 and about 4 survived, got quite a nice fry size, starting looking like little Convicts, when the Jewels went in, and well no more convicts. I have also tried earthworms and both Oscars rolled over and laid down until I took the worms out. Boss1 will take a fresh shell-on shrimp from my hand, Sissy waits until he sees that the food is safe and will then take it. I really enjoy my Guys, I find it so funny when they play soccer with one of the stones in their tank, taking it from one end of the tank to the other, arguing over it, cleaning it, throwing it at the glass to get our attention, like I have read, Oscars are the Puppies of the water world.
My son, 14 has a 7" Red Devil, he flares and hits the glass, bites and chases your finger on the glass, he also has personality, but a nasty one, more a prohibited breed of dog personality than a puppy LOL

Oscars all the way...

A 75 is to small for that many oscars...

If you are looking for something with personality besides Oscars(great fish,I have 2 btw) I would suggest a green terror,or gold saum. They have all the personality of an O,but are much more colorful.I have one GT,and he wags his tail, and will eat out of your hand.So there is my 2cents!
