I have an Exo Terra Terrariums. Right now it's sitting out in my garage. I've been wanting to do something cool with it, but I'm not sure what!

I would like to make a small habitat of some sort with a critter or 2 in it.

Any ideas? What would you set it up like?

I can't remember the exact size, I know it isn't a little one, maybe the 18 X 18 X 24 if I remember correctly.

The one thing I would like to stay away from is feeding crickets EWWWW.

Most of the critters that would do well in there are insectivores. Is it crickets in particular you have a problem with, or bugs in general?

If you feed them Repashy superfoods (which is on the website) you don't need to feed insects at all.

If you want to stay away from bugs most entirely, I agree that crested geckos , Rhacodactylis ciliatus, would be a good choice. Given the proper fruit diet with supplements, they could live entirely off of fruit.

Yeah that still is a bunch of bologna. I talk to enough breeders that agree they still should have access to crickets and other insects. In the wild they come from a temperate island that is NOT tropical. The fruit on that island is seasonal so they supplement the rest of their diet with insects 3/4 of the year. Rhacodactylus ciliatus was thought to be extinct in the wild up until the mid 90's so to say we have perfected keeping them in captivity and know all their requirements is still far from the truth. I've personally seen crested that were kept on only crested diet and ones that were fed both. The ones that had insects in their diet were always healthier and didn't develop and bone or skin issues. Everyone likes to find the simplest way around stuff anymore, in this case it's feeding them fruit paste and ignoring their natural instincts to eat live "bugs". Just my 2¢. :)

Pogiebate- how do you feel about roaches? Tropical roaches are a great substitute for crickets (silent and nearly odorless) and are easy to breed (just ask Vicious). If you are willing to go with them instead you could keep a wide array of insectivorous lizards, frogs, etc. in that tank.
