I went to the shop to buy some much needed equipments for my new snail tanks until I decided to recheck the shrimps the shop was selling. I chatted with Rachel about 2-3 nights before about the shrimps. One tag labeled them as tiger shrimps. I am familiar with tiger shrimps having looked over the data in planetinverts.com however there is no result about 'skunk' shrimps which is written in another label. The tank definitely has no tiger shrimps contrary to the label. The employee assumed the ones in it are 'skunk' but I have not seen any database about 'skunks'! The shrimps are pale red in color and have a black vertical line across the body. Any ideas?

Unfortunately they could be any species of shrimp. I've seen many outrageous non scientific names for shrimp and fish. If you can, take a a few pictures of them, and ask the store proprietor who their vendor/supplier is. They could give you a geographical origin for the shrimp, which can is very helpful finding the scientific name of the shrimp (if they've been scientifically defined before).

Sounds like a generic name for some of the random neocaridinas coming out of the east. I've seen loads of black, blue, red, yellow shrimp with many variations and a black or white stripe down their nose/back.

Really, I get confused trying to sort out whether they could be new species or one varied kind, it gives me headaches. :duh:

I found these on a page in a language I didn't understand
