:swear:

Well, for those of you who read my last post about electricity rates in San Diego, CA, here goes another little rant.....

So, last month my electric bill for 1500 KWH of electricity was $700. Well, the news on the street is that the same inflated rates will soon apply to water. San Diego does not have enough of it's own water to sustain itself, so they buy it from surrounding municipalities. A shortage is on the brink and to counter the shortage and get people to save, they are about to command a nearly %20 increase in water rates.

I keep community and discus tanks in my house..... you all know what that means. Lots of water on top of the crazy electric bill. I guess I need to move. With all that said, be prepared to see a fantastic deal on some livestock and equipment posted in the classified section of this site when my first $400 water bill comes because at that point I will give up.

Best wishes to any of you in my situation and for those of you who are not, I'm jealous!

Buy spring water. Find some place cheap to get it and it'll prolly be cheaper than your water.

Moral of the story seems to be that it sucks to live in San Diego.

Or hire a team of elephants to deliver it. I agree...move.

water here is inexpensive..i think my water bill for 2 months is less than $30:)
the job market here is not looking so good tho(layoffs in Microsoft, Starbucks and Boeing)

I work for the federal government, so not only is my job secure, but I just got a $4000 raise. It's just principle I guess. I refuse to pay $1100 a month for just water and electric. That does not include my gas, cable, phone, and internet connection. Oh, by the way, gas is back to $2.00 a gallon. I wonder if it will continue to climb?? I'd love to move, but I have to find a way to transfer in my field within the government.

1500 KWH cost $700..... WoW!!!!

My last light bill was for 4063 KWH and my bil was $414.00
If I used as much electricity there as I do here, my bill would be $2000.00

Guess I will stay In Tennessee.

How much are you currently paying per month for water? Here in Santa Barbara I pay maybe 40 or 50 bucks. I don't keep Discus, but still I can't imagine a 400 dollar water bill.
When I visit San Diego I notice lots of green lawns and parks that always seem to have the sprinklers on. Seems like the city wastes a lot of water considering the semi-arid climate. Maybe they are about to pay the price.
Would be a shame if you gave up your discus tanks. I saw a pic on these boards. Really nice.
Good luck. Hope we get some rain soon!
