Best Method for Acclimatizing Fish

I'm unconvinced. Changes in TDS take days, not minutes, for fish to acclimate to. Changes in pH don't of themselves bother them; it's only temperature you can really acclimate to in a matter of minutes or even hours, which is adequately done by floating the bags.

drip works for me!

I used to do the float thing but my LFS says they use straight oxygen and that to float the fish it would kill them. So now I do the drip method. I was told to add some prime to the bag if the fish were mailed and had been in the bag for a couple of days then drip.

(This is a really good thread, an example of why AC is so useful.)

I float the bags for 15 minutes, then add two ounces of tank water every 15 minutes for 90 minutes, at which point I net the livestock and release it into its new home.

But I typically buy small fish. If I wanted to use the drip method for, say, a group of five platies, using the 5-gallon buckets I use for water changes would mean they'd be swimming in about 1/4" of water.

So, what other vessels do you use to hold specimens during drip acclimation? Mixing bowls?

jackiomy is fish acclimation kit actually useful? Have you ever used it

In the beginning, I would add some water just go give some swimming room. That would work. Or get a smaller container (rubber made tubs) and then pour them in the bucket when their done.
