What canister filter is recommended??

would a c-530 be ok for a 75gal. or would a c-360 be good enough???

I have three fluval 404 and one 304 and have had no problems with them. The hoses are ribbed, so I flush them good once a year. I have had my first one for at least three years now with no problems. I bought mine on e-bay, but they were new. I believe they are now replaced with 504's now.

If you are looking at the Ehiem's I would go to petsmart.com. Right now they have the classics for really cheap.

2213- $70
2215- $106
2217- $150 (I think)

edit: Just checked and the 2217 is $135.

Just my 2 cents: I've got a Marineland C 360 on my 75g (also with a HOB for backup), and the flow is awesome! I do have some suspended particulate, but I mostly have bio media in there right now and lots of floating plants that were getting a little beat up from the powerhead. It's better since I removed the powerhead. The flow is still awesome without the powerhead.

I've only had the canister for about a month or so, and I got it used. So far, though, it's awesome! I can't believe it took me so long to change over from power filters.

Rena XP is a great filter. Eheim classic canisters are the best value and bang for the buck. They also come packed with gods creation the substrate pro

I got a 2215 for 110 shipped from www.bigalsonline.com

You can never go wrong with a stop by bigalsonline.com when it comes time to shop around for the big stuff. Or the little stuff too I guess. Go ahead and get a big jug of water conditioner while you are at it, screw buying that stuff in small volumes.

I bought a Cascade 1200, not highly recommended in terms of quality, but it has worked for me for maybe 2 years now.

Also, IMO, you should get the larger of the two filters you are considering. I doubt you will regret going big. Especially when you decide your 50gal is too small. And you will decide that. You will. :evil_lol:
