Yep... do you want the good news, or the bad news? :hitting:

The good news is that it is perfectly normal for new driftwood (espec. manzanita) and will eventually resolve on its own (usually within a week or two). It poses no threat to your cycle, specimens, or the tank on a whole. I have several new branches soaking in with my 36 gallon bowfront and they have the same fuzz.

The bad news is that the best way to get it to clear quickly is to pull the driftwood out regularly and scrub it down. This will be a PITA now that your sweet slate sculpture is already tank-bound. I'd either leave it be for now and let it runs its course or even better, try an in-tank scrub down followed by a water change. Remember that water changes now will not effect your cycle speed at all.

If it won't bother you too much to have it look that way for a week or two, leaving it alone is just fine. I left mine alone, and it resolved itself pretty quickly. :)

Yes, that would be a nightmare! My tank didn't even have a canopy and I was still too lazy to do it so I don't blame you a bit! I can't wait to see your stocking choices. :)

I also posted this under equipment ...

Has anybody had a leak with the quick-connection on an Eheim?

We have a 2217 and have pinpointed the tiny leak (1 small drop every hour or so) to where the Eheim tubing connects to the quick-connect valve.

I have tried several times making a new connection. I have tried heating the tubing under warm water so it forms to the connection. I have tried teflon tape. I have tried everything I can think of.

Any successful patches / solutions?

Is it best just to order a new quick-connect valve.

Nightmare is absolutely correct - way too big of a PITA!

Thanks a million - we are so excited to stock this baby!!
