Call me crazy but I do love Olive Pythons. I am hoping to get a few in the next few years. they are beautiful snakes, i just love Australian pythons.
Why? The dog is dead, the snake is eating, they don't differentiate between a rat or a dog. Why make an animal behaving naturally suffer a terrifying and torturous death?
Sad, but in places where snakes, poisonous and constricting, are known to be, no small pets should be left unattended for any amount of time, IMO, unless it is on a pen with a top.
^ I'm with you bettagurl. while yes it is sad her dog got eaten (well kinda maltese's really freak me out.), hey its life and pythons where here first, evolutionarily speaking! hehe.

If it was your dog, it wouldnt have been eaten by a Olive Python living in New Jersey.
Bettagurl is right, this animal saw prey and took it. It happens and is a part of nature.
I adore snakes and dogs, but even if I didn't like either, I would see it the same.
Crickets freak me out so bad, I swear when one got on me you could hear me four miles away, BUT I would never, ever hurt one just because I'm scared of it. Unfortunately many people fear what they do not understand, and react negatively to it.
