Pathetic...

Yeah I read he had hazards on and the only other driver waved him through ....

What he was stopped for is moot.
He broke the law? maybe.

The stop was justified, drawing a gun may have been justified.

was the Officer using poor judgment.. maybe.

we have a lot of unknowns and much of what actually happened probably will not get published in the Paper.

Until you have stepped in the Officers shoes..I would hesitate to pass judgment.

If you are wondering if I have stepped in these shoes...the answer is Yes.

I will agree, there are bad cops and good cops...you usually only hear about the bad ones.

the officer was in code(4bells) lights and siren. ever been in one of these?
driver did not stop

SOP is to treat this as a felony stop.

The traffic stop was not for speeding, was it? Where did you read about the speed that they were obviously travelling?

Moats only ran a red light when he was sure that nobody was going to get hurt.
I didn't read anywhere about the speed at which they were traveling I could see how fast they were traveling from the vid on the dashboard camera. Although I feel for him as well as his family once the officer hit his lights and sirens that should have been a signal for him to pull over.

I agree

When you're a cop in a area like Dallas and have 7 people in a SUV not pulling over when you throw your lights on then you can say negative stuff.

Cops have the worst job in the world. When you're outnumbered 7 to 1 I'm sure the stress is intensified. It was night he had no idea who or what was in the car. Just because they pulled into a hospital parking lot doesn't automatically mean thats is where they were heading in his mind.

Could it have been handled better? Yes.

But no cop in their right mind is going to take the word of someone who just failed to stop for his lights and siren. A cop that lets his guard down is a dead cop. Though after the nurses came out he should have dropped it right there.

But SOP is not to act like a douche and threaten the person involved.

that is situational
;)
sometimes it is a police officer should be taking control of a situation...people leaving the vehicle pose a threat that may return later.(get out of line of sight only to get the upper hand.

this situation was out of control.

could it have been handled better...heck yeah..the officer could have had back up .

the department will get to the bottom and hopefully adjust.

I get sick and tired about all this boo-hooing that cops have such a horrible job. Nobody is forcing them to be a cop. Work in a hospital and tell me it isn't stressful...work as a fireman and tell me it isn't stressful. You're not the only one that has a stressful job.

Give me a freaking break.
