Saturday I am having a couple girlfriends come over to share some wine, food and friendship. (hubby will be gone!:evil_lol:)
I need help with the menu as I am out of ideas! It will be very casual and I would like it to be something simple and light. (not a full blown sit down dinner)

Any ideas? :help:

Are you talking like chips and dip stuff? I made some Sausage/Cheese dip for one of my parties. I am not so sure how well it would pair with wine, but it is pretty good.

I used:
1 pound of Ground Sausage
1 package cream cheese
1 cup shreded cheddar cheese
1 reg can of rotel tomatoes

Cube up the cream cheese and put into a small crock pot. Pour the can of tomatoes and cheddar cheese in also. Brown the sausage and put that in when it is done. Wait till it all melts together.

Mmmm. I love it. It doesn't taste a whole lot like cream cheese so don't get turned off by that if you dont like cream cheese.

If that isnt quite what you are looking for are you looking for more like an appetizer?

How about a plate of good cheese, fresh fruit and crackers- light but tasty. Bree is really good with fresh fruit. Also try cheddar with sliced apples- tangy and sweet. Check a better grocery store- they may even have such platters for ordering- would save you work. For crackers, go with things like whole wheat water crackers or other specialty crackers. One good thing is Wasa bread- kinda like a cracker

slices of real mozzarella.. (the kind you buy in weird wet disks), slices of tomato on top, olive oil, italian seasoning... mmm okay I'm trying to live vicariously through you but try it anyways

if you have a grill, you can make vegetable and chicken and/or shrimp kabobs for a light "main course" and season it with lemon or something

Thanks for the ideas but I have decided on a corn salad dish, chicken salad (Zig got me going on this!) open face on small slices of crusty bread, my sister is bringing a broccoli salad and one other is bringing a fruit salad. Oh and of course, the wine! Should be a nice girls night in. :)

sounds nice. I was going to suggest a nice leafy green salad, some good bread, and something like chicken salad. Maybe some grapes/fruit as well to pick at. yum!

pigs in a blanket (aka weinertots)

i never remember how to make this but there is a sundried tomato paste/dip that i make on occasion. ingredients are something like, sundried tomatoes, garlic, teaspoon of oil, dash salt and throw it all in a food processor. it is a real good dip.

ok - now I really regret skipping breakfast! LOL
All of these ideas are so good. I do make a kick arse garden salad, maybe that w/ chicken salad, good crusty bread and the fruit salad.....mmmmm. Decisions, decisions! :nilly:

i would go with a simple pasta.
