That's some pretty wild guessing, jpappy. I made the suggestion that Red Severum did receive a PM notice when the game started and it told him... (yikes!) that he's on the rebel team this time around. I didn't forget a thing, I know we didn't get PMs because those only went out to the players assigned as the Don, a wiseguy, or to the rebel team.
Red Severum waited quite a while after that and knew he needed to actually make a post... but was a little intimidated by the new game, perhaps because he's still new to this. So he decided to jump right in with a fairly stupid and totally pointless random vote against me. Was there any useful purpose to be served by that? Nope.. that's all it was.
I'm thinking this looks like a really good explanation in Red's case why he was in such a big hurry to vote against someone like that.... purely out of convenience. For a player who's obviously in over his head (yet again) it's a rather predictable way for him to "appear" like he's doing something, when he really isn't. That's how this guy plays this game.
Those of us who are here from the last game have already watched him behave this way before..... He casts a useless vote right off the bat like he did against me... he flip flops around and bounces here and there a few times over the next 2 days trying to stay out of the limelight until a lynching occurs... and (again) he still can't figure out the proper wording he's supposed to use to "unvote" somebody because he hasn't bothered to actually read the instructions.
Okay Red, so what? I went to check on these posts and to see what the timing looks like. Here's what I found. (This is from the Signup thread. Note that forum shows these time for my time zone which is Pacific time.)

BKW.. if I was actually the DON, this is not the course to follow for the town to win. You still need to figure out who the good guys are that we WANT to keep in ACville (the Don/wiseguys!) versus who the bad guys are that we're trying to run out of town (the rebels!).

My understanding of the rules are that the wiseguys and don can use mafia protection, but only on a townie not on themselves.
I was thinking that last night in bed and was going to be what I posted this AM.
She got her PM saw the game thread and over reacted by posting before JL told us not everyone would get a PM. Well if at that point she hadn't received a PM she wouldn't have posted as she'd be waiting to see what team she was on.
I vote to lynch Kash.
Unless I see something to convince me she is a WG and not a Mucs.
I played a good amount of games with lots of these people but I've no intention of going back through them to remember how many, how many with each and what roles I had. I tend to think your vote for me is pretty baseless if not random so no biggie, but you have been over using your vote as either a way of interacting with people. I don't know if you're setting up an early pattern of jumping your vote around which you can point too later on when you are doing it for real i.e. in an anti-town way. The fact that you've only played one game doesn't exclude that at all.
Might just be classic 'new(ish) player looks like anti-town on the first day though I accept that.
Seriously...I have UD'd because of missing the timezone...one in particular springs to mind because I think I was a Doctor or some other pro-town power role and felt particularly bad. I also had a poor record of completing games at the time.
On Kashta...she is basically on the site 24/7 or close to it so in a vacuum it does not necessarily surprise me that she was so quick on the trigger in posting. But how often do you get anything solid to vote on on D1 and I do get where Ice & others reckon she is at the least not a vanilla citizen.
If it were anyone less experienced than Ice making the above post I'd be shouting dangerdangerdanger at the (not)veiled request/encouragement for a PR to reveal his/herself. I don't think this is what Ice is doing though...more just declaring his vote to be a committed one or at least a pretty committed for D1 vote.
At least there is now some talking points though.
BTW there is a lot of non-contributory garbage posting and I hate that or rather it is in my opinion a Mucs tell. I'm going to try and do a 'wheat from the chaff' re-read of the thread this afternoon. The fact that there is in fact some proper talking points at this stage (not all of which are considered in this post) makes the garbage posting really, really unimpressive if trying to impress as genuinely pro-town.

Some answers...
When a player that was presumed dead comes back from protection the town will be told they have returned - since they were protected, when they die, I will not reveal anything more than they were a citizen.
The protections are for lynch's. Anyone can be protected. If a wiseguy wants to protect the Don and the Don get's lynched, then a wiseguy will be promoted to Don and when the player returns, they will be a wiseguy. Now the ex-Don could have been protected by the bala, but not the rebels. The ex-Don would return as a wiseguy or a mafia citizen.
If the rebels and the wiseguy protect the same person there is no protection. If the rebels protect the Don or a wiseguy, there is no protection. There will be no double agents. No player that was a wiseguy will return as a rebel and no rebel will return as a wiseguy. They may return to their original "team" or be citizens. They will not turn. The Don, the wiseguys, and the rebels will return from protection if their own team selected them or if bala sselected them.
I hope this clears this up.
By the way, there are protections for this first lynch and I will need tomorrows protections before nightfall. If for some reason your protected player does not make it through the night, you lose that protection. (you were a day late!)
Part of me wants to tell the player they are being protected, but am unsure - I think they should know. Also there is no rule against voting for yourself.
