Ace25's 75G Build Thread

Ya, Guillo definately had the same problem with too much PPFD, and corals bleaching. Actually just replacing the actinics has helped a lot with the coloring, but I still think he should run 1 layer of the blue cellophane over the back 2 tubes, which are over his 2 SPS rock piles, and put 2 layers over the front tube for his LPS/softy pile. He has way more light than he needs, and is healthy for most of the corals we keep. Heck, we see the reading in my tank, at 4" deep, he gets those same readings at the very bottom of his tank, which is 26" deep.

The sad part is that after his solatubes corroded, it wasn't enough light to keep much of anything. The PPFD dropped off substantially.

Ace i was wondering which Phosphate meter you have. Is it the high or low range? If the high and low range are the same price and the low tests from 0-2.5 mg/l and the high test 0-30 mg/l what is the benefit of getting the low range?

ok thanks

That's a fantastic setup!

The PPFD levels he was measuring were even higher than what you measured on Guillo's, but he was having a lot of trouble bleaching corals, too. Beyond that, he also left the protective cover off of them and the salt spray corroded them.
I don't think he could have gotten a higher reading than what we got on my tank....The meter only goes up to 3000 and we hit that with no problem 13" under the tubes.

I din't remove the protective cover so no salt gets on my tubes......They should last a very long time and even if I had to replace them in 5 years it would be worth it. I'd say they pay for themselves in about 6 months time.
