Cardisoma guanhum (Barbados Giant Land Crab) Build Thread!

Those are really neat. I would be afraid to touch them.
 
build has slowed to a stop almost cause I have about 90 million projects going at once..just to give you guys a quick update...

Foods

Cherries (I've never seen anyone or thing destroy cherries like these guys)
Grapes (not so much but they will eat them VERY slowly)
Peaches (within an hour its gone)
Plum (within an hour its gone)
Red Leaf Lettuce (kinda a little bit but def. not a favorite)

The HUGE plus side to these guys is I don't have to get the best looking fruit (my store has a shelf of bruised, bad, ugly looking fruit and vegs so I pick some from there..usually costs me under a dollar)

They have a dog dish (yes DOG dish) that I fill up with saltwater and they soak in it..

the downside to them....

SUPER SUPER SUPER skittish to the point of if they as much HEAR me they start going crazy
their claws are VERY strong, they can hold their weight on that 1 big claw
they run across your kitchen floor FAST! (dont ask lol)
 
This is a really interesting thread, Dee. What made you decide to house these? I have this picture of putting a foot down on morning to find a land crab hanging off of a big toe.

I decided to get these cause well...nobody has had them :) so why not? I'm single so its not like I have anyone to tell me no
 
I think we need a video of them berserking across your kitchen floor!
 
lol I cant make any promises but if they manage to get out again during cage cleaning ill shoot some video
