Hello, ive noticed 2 spots on my medusa pleco, and im unsure if its ick. Ive been reading up on treatments and many suguest the salt/heat treatment. Raising the heat to 87-88 and adding salt... would this kill/hurt my plants? also well im here i might aswell ask about my fish, even tho im pretty sure the types i have will be ok with this type of treatment.

tiger barb/blackshirt tetra/rosy tetra/bristlenose pleco/blue tetra/medusa pleco/1 snail(dunno the type, he caught a ride on 1 of my plants)

I am mostly worried about my fish, but ive got like a dozen plants ive been puttin alot work and atention into and very much want them to be ok.

and for salt for a 200gal, i'd need what 8.5 cups of salt?!?! crazy if you ask me.

Try just doing a salt bath for the one pleco if he's the only one you see. I wouldnt suggest putting salt directly into your tank, but thats jmo

Your avatar is hilarious!

i would treat the whole tank. if one of your fish has ich they all will and there's no point in treating a fish and putting it back into an infected tank. start with 1 cup of completely dissolved salt and increase if you need to. not sure how the plants will react to heat but the salt in the short-term should not hurt them. remove the snail before adding salt.
