I read that some people actually pour H-peroxide directly inot tank for algae. Is this true?? Would it work as good as Excel??

I always thought that you should just use it as a dip.

I think some fish are sensitive to it, but it turns to oxygen. So imagine it would be ok.

I have heard of people using it to help get rid of cyanobacteria, but I don't think you are supposed to leave the fish in the tank.

I've used it to get rid of BBA. You can put it directly into the tank. I usually wait until I do a water change so that I can apply the H2O2 to the portions that become exposed when I take the water out (more effective that way). I've put it into the tank, though, with no adverse on the fish.

As long as you don't put too much in. Good article about it here: http://www.malawicichlidhomepage.com/aquainfo/algae_peroxide.html

lol I have also heard of it being used during long term power outages who knew it could do so many things.

I've used it personally for some algae control (especially for Hair Algae). I use it in a syringe and squeeze it out directly over and into the affected area. After one or two treatments the algae turns white and gets blown away and sucked into the filter.

and Yes the fish love the bubble show.

Nice to know it works. Any adverse effects, other plants lose leaves, fish deaths, ect???

I've been using H202 pretty consistently for the last month at a rate of two times a week. Leaving two of three days in between from the last day of treatment. I haven't experienced any negative effects on plants of fish. I've also treated hair algae on my vals too. No negative effects either. Zero loss so far.

If you're curious about the type of fish I have:

40+ ember tetras
8 lampeyes
2 zebra oto's
