fish tank cloudy

Hi there,

My question is, i have a 120 gallon fish tank, i just cleaned it, the filteration, the hoses, everything. My problem is that everytime i plug in my pump, a cloud of white particles come pouring out of the sprayer.

Any suggestions on what or how i can fix this problem?

I am not sure how to fix the problem but when you wash off the filter media (other than a bio-wheel because you should NEVER clean/replace a bio-wheel) be sure not to use tap water because tap water will kill th beneficial bacteria on the media. Instead give it a little swish in a bucket of old tank water if you feel it needs cleaning, this will not kill the bacteria.

EDIT: I think those white particles might just be tiny air bubbles. They will clear up on their own it might just take a little time. Also when you cleaned everything did you use soap? I am asking because soap is extremely bad for aquariums (it will kill your fish).

It is just a bio-film that is released after turning the filter off, then back on when done cleaning. It is broken free when the velocity of the flow is re-established. It will/should be filtered out by your floss or pads in short time. Not unusual at all.

I agree. I have Penguin 350's on my 3 larger tanks and this happens everytime I shut them off to change a filter pad or clean the uptake and then turn them back on - it should clear up within a few minutes.
