No trick or treaters

You think just normal trick-or-treaters are bad, try having a senior, Halloween, highschool, dance party like my sister!

But I agree, bad stuff. The candy's good tho!*

Yeah we had a lot of skanky looking girls, the wost is when their moms look as nasty as they do. Gross what girls want to be. Maybe we should hand them condoms not candy since they want to be hookers not children.

I had 12 kids....13 if you count the first one - by the time I got to the door he was halfway down the street...lol.

Halloween isn't what it used to be - kids don't get excited over dressing up, and most get whatever they want, so the idea of free candy isn't all that appealing.

On an aside, is there anyone else who is appalled by girls costumes these days? I understand (but dont really condone) twenty something girls dressing slutty for parties, but I saw some 10-12 year olds dressed up as hooker little bo-peep, stripper red ridinghood, hooker pirate, stripper pippy longstockings etc. Today, going out to lunch, the 2 girls at the register were dressed in similar costumes. They include thigh high stockings and garter belts, and skirts so short you can see thier underwear :screwy:! When did this holliday become an excuse for little girls to dress like prostitutes?!

Its real simple, its because their parents are *******s

awww

i look like a raggity bum when i drop him off at the bus stop. that's the way it should be imo... kids come first.

...snip...
they had a good time.

I agree with you 100%! And they do look like they had a blast! I always do stuff like that. Here is Alaska it gets darned cold and one year my son was a knight and when he slipped and fell on his butt his black vinyl cape shattered. It was -35 and I drove them from house to house keeping the car warm and toasty with hot cocoa in the cup holders. They had a blast. It's the times like that that make great memories.

We live in a generally small town. Usually we can expect about 100 kids. This year we had 5. The weather was fine, a bit chilly, but what is this world coming to?

H1N1.... a lot of people sick with swine flu at the moment, and also worried about their kids getting swine flu = not taking them to a strangers house where you have no idea about their level of hygiene and them giving candy to your kids. Couple that with the bad economy and you have a lot less people out and about than in past years.

One of the reasons for fewer trick-or-treaters. Alternate venues for trick or treating.

We take our kids two places: 1) the Zoo- they have a "Boo at the Zoo event" where they have halloween lights all over the place and stations where they hand out candy. 2) Local shopping centre.

When they're a little older will probably take them house to house- but for right now, I prefer the safety and well-lit areas to letting them go house to house.

(we had one 5 year old kid shot in our city last year... rang the door bell and some psycho opened the door and shot him multiple times)

As for girls outfits... they're mimicing the older girls- I won't let my girls dress like that when they're older- (they're 2 and 1 at the moment... Dora the Explorer is fine with me)

Most tweens don't need Halloween as an excuse to dress like that these days. :(

My girls *won't* dress like that (and I'm unable to get my wife to- LOL).

Oh and we only had two kids come by our house- but we didn't turn the light on until we got home from taking our kids out- so it was past prime trick or treating time.

Almost no-one on our street had their lights on to suggest they were giving out candy anyway so I don't think many people would have bothered with our street.

I don't like this newer trend halloween is getting to. . . Well, i like it for one thing, i don't for another.

- Adult women's costumes all seem like they came out of a sex shop, (that's the part that doesn't bother me one bit.. ;) )

- Kids costumes are looking skanky... I saw a little school girl costume worn by a little girl.. how sick is that... and what's even worse is thinking that a parent actually purchased it for their kid. It's sad, and so wrong...

- Nowadays it seems like the costume market are trying to sell so much of their products, and people are buying into them, that by people trying to be original by purchasing these premade costumes, they're actually looking like generic store bought costumes. hardly any original costumes nowadays... Nothing's home made anymore.

Fortunately, the city streets were still full of kids doing their thing, but it was hardly as exciting as it was years ago.

Halloween seems to have lost its magic.
