Ned had some gorgeous apistos when I was there the other day. I admit I don't know that much about them- are they ok in community tanks?

I do have a pearl gourami, I'm relatively certain it's a female, if that makes a difference. Definitely not aggressive with any fish that are in there now (which are cardinal tetras, cories, and kuhli loaches).

If they would be ok, could I do a single male? Or would a pair be best? Sounds like they like soft water, too, which is perfect for me (as opposed to all my other tanks lol).

A pair for sure, you'll probably end up with some more ;)

They are more bottom dwellers. They would do fine in a community setup as long as you have a spawning cave for them. They can get pretty "agressive" during spawning but I haven't seen them do much actual damage, the female just does alot of chasing away. They are really fun to watch rear their young, I say go for it.

Sweeet. :D

I may wait a little while- I have a new pair of gobies, and I *think* a 1m/2f trio of DPs.
I can only handle so many babies.

Do the male/female have to be the same apisto species? I don't remember what he had, but I think I could probably order a m/f pair if I decide what I want.

I was thinking about getting a pleco, but I think a apisto pair would be more fun. :)

I was gonna do Apistos in my community tank. Coincidentally, I went to Ned's and there was like nothing. I ended up buying a pair of rams instead. This was in August though. I would say if you're going to shell out the dough for a pair, get the same type.

A single male would be ok but a same species pair is more interesting. I'm not sure how many fry would survive, mine haven't & they're in with just corys. I also have a male in with kuhlis, CPD & threadfin rainbow. The only trouble is he's a food hog so the loaches come out more waiting for food.

Ned gets in apistos often but they sell fast. Lots of kinds when I was there too. Call or check his website if you're far. The super reds were awesome

Yeah if I'm going to get them I'd have him hold a pair. There were 3 or 4 varities this weekend, one of them was orange somthing- gorgeous!

Could I take the eggs out and raise them seperate? That's what I did with my cories, and what I plan on doing with my gobies.

My kuhlis are pigs (as are the cories, of course), so I wouldn't be worried about them lol.
