anyone wanna take in a fishnerd so hes out of his current living condition?

I hope your dad comes through for you, but again, I know you have been dissapointed many times in the past. Make sure whatever you plan is something you can handle by yourself. If you don't count on someone else, then you can't be dissapointed by them. Unfortunately life has taught me to be very greatful when other people come through for me- and to expect it when they are unable to. Not because they dont mean it, but because this is real life and stuff happens, they must take care of their own responsibilities first, and helping is not something they will always be able to do.

Look for a studio apt. If this is the first time you've ever been out on your own you don't need much space- a bed, a dresser and two tanks. Don't get house poor. In NY I know people making 65k a year living in studio apartments- if one of them heard you talking about a two bedroom they would have a fit. If home is so bad, a studio will be perfect- if you need a two bedroom for it to be an improvement, then it aint that bad where you are now.

Good Luck

The hardest thing I ever did was move out of my parents home, but I had to. It was the best thing for my health and safety. Now I know it was the best decision of my life. Times can be tough but if you are strong then you will make it through and make your life better.

let me get this clear, you are using the government's money to smoke?

the money that we, the people who actually work no matter how disabled they are, taken out of our hard earned paychecks so someone like you can sit at home and be addicted to cigarettes.

what a freaking wonderful system that's going on

its US the taxpayers that should be committed to the mental hospital to take this in stride on how wonderful our "society" is helping one another.

Personally, I think they should be more selective about who they allow on disability, and those people who are on it who really are disabled should be given more money, because you cant really live off of ssi. But there'd be a heck of a lot less people on it. I'm only on it temporarily, I'm going to try working if I can but I may not be able to. Right now I may have to drop out of school due to panic attacks... And no, it's not just because I don't want to. I'd love to work like other people do. But it IS harder for me...

There is such a thing as being "disadvantaged".... you know, mentally delayed etc. But even those people can usually hold a job SOMEWHERE. Maybe the government should give them assistance in becoming self-supporting. Disadvantaged does not equal disabled.

basically, I see where you're coming from, despite the fact that I am on SSI myself.

The solution for that is working part time. Basically I believe every person who can work, should try to get work in whatever capacity they have.
