Too Much Snow! So Much for Mailing Packages Today!

Can you drive at all?

I don't do a whole lot of driving when it gets like this, but my hubby drives like normal in it. I guess it is all what you are used to. They do a great job of keeping the roads cleared.

Tell me about all the buildings. I love properties with outbuildings! I wish I had an old farmhouse with outbuildings.

In the picture with the tent: on the left is the house my husband built for his dad to live in; the one in the middle is his dad's work shop that my hubby built (his dad makes furniture by hand); and on the right is our shed.

Hahahahhaa what a wimp! The warmest it got here today is -4 F. Earlier it was -18! I even went horseback riding today! haha We have a couple feet of snow on the ground, nothing unusual for Minnesota...so far we haven't had any serious cold snaps like -30 last year!

It has been cold here today. Not as cold as you, but between 5-10 with wind chills in the -5 to -10 F range. Yesterday, we only had about 6" on the ground and it was in the mid 20s so the kids were out in the yard doing donuts on their 4 wheelers. My 4 year old son is so serious about it. He leans forward and a little to the side to try and make it donut faster. I have to stay inside when they are playing on the 4 wheelers. They scare me to death. My daughter more so than my son as she has no fear.

Sweet! My husband is very handy and needs some workshop space because I want the basement as living space soon....
What kind of furniture does you FIL make?

He makes gun cabinets, kitchen tables, shelves, book cases, potato bins, that kind of stuff. Basically anything that is just wood and maybe glass insets. He made my daughter's cradle when she was born. He is a bit slow though, it took him my whole pregnancy to get it done. But he is in his 70s and does not feel the need to go fast at any time.

It's great that he is still working at a hobby like that. Does he sell stuff?
My husband is a very talented wood carver but it's not realistic that he'll make the bills on it so he works a "real" job and messes around with carving when he can, which isn't often. I just got him a nice carving knife for Christmas and it's got him in a mood so he's cranked out a few things! I love it when he makes stuff.

I want a table made for my entry way. I need to find someone to do that.

He has sold some of his work before, mostly if someone wants something made, he will make it for them and charge them material and a little for his time. He does not just make stuff to sell though.

Yikes! I would be super scared too!

That is my husband blowing the snow. The amount on the blazer is just from the last 24 hours. I am with you on minimal time outside in this stuff usually, but am having to be out in more with all of the work going on here on the house.

Man it's 50 here in south Florida right now and that is to cold, I don't know how you guys handle it. I guess if you don't have to work outside it could be tolerated somehow. We do get some mid 30 possibly this week , OUCH !!!!!!!!!!
