plan on getting an RO/Di system but until then will crystal springs purified water work?

all it has in it is potassium bicarbonate, calcium chloride and magnesium chloride.
 
That's going to be a more expensive way of filling your tank and topping off for sure. Either look for an LFS that sells RO/DI water, look at a supermarket (like WalMart) that has a kiosk, or purchase your own unit. An RO/DI unit will pay for itself quickly, especially if you use bottled purified water.
 
i am buying the large 5 gallons for now, i will get a ro system but it will be a few weeks, just making sure the water is safe, its about 6.99 for 5 gallons
 
No guarantee on the safety, but it is likely OK. Certain ions may not be at ideal levels, like nitrate and/or phosphate, but it should be enough to get by for now. Basically, the additives are not a problem, but you don't really know the total purity--not to mention the added minerals will skew TDS.
 
Maybe :). You have to be careful with supposed "purified" waters. They may use tapwater or unpurified sources. Not to mention that the "purification" may not be very satisfactory, especially dependent upon the water source prior to purification.
 
there are a couple water vending machines around here that dispense purified water for about .30 a gallon. maybe you have something like that around you? it would certainly be cheaper than $6.99 for 5 gallons.
 
i will look into it, there used to be one @ walmart but they got rid of them


ok, here is another question, what would cause salt not to desolve as well in some waters over others?
