We Are SO Snowed In!!! (Virginia)

One of my dogs hates snow. So I shovel paths for him to run out and potty in. I don't see why you couldn't do something similar for your horses. You could just shovel the top layer, low enough for them to be able to walk. Like in a large random shape, they would soon enough stomp the snow down and make the trail easier for themselves. It's not much, but it might help, plus the work out is always a good thing.
We had 17in here in December. Not sure how much this time since it keeps coming down. Already tore one pine 3 ways, we will have to cut it the rest of the way. Fell on a wood fence, but this is a real fence, not a factory puzzle. Built by hand, withstood 20 years and now a tree falling on it, still as solid as a rock!

Ok so story time.

I was born and raised in Virginia(Roanoke) and now I live in Wisconsin. My parents LOVE to call me in the winter and ask how the weather is. It drives me crazy. THIS year though Virginia has had more snow than we have and it's pay back time. I am loving it :P

:)

I'm in Cleveland, 3 miles South of Lake Erie. I have 4-6". My brother, 60 miles South has 14" ! tthhpppt!!!!!

The snow looks gorgeous there! (and here!). Loving it and it's still coming down.

Thanks for the compliment about Trooper. He's a good boy. We thought we'd sell colts / keep fillies last year. SOMEHOW, I doubt we'll ever sell Mr. Trooper (way too attached). Plus, even though I've had and raised horses for a long time and I know how to discipline them -- what everyone said would happen (he'd be spoiled and obnoxious) turned out to be the case). He is a little spoiled brat w/ no fear. This spring, I'll have to get on him about it but haven't yet... When we were having to feed him every 2hrs around the clock, I seriously thought of bringing him inside, but we never did. He stayed in a stall w/ a small pen when we had to feed him ourselves (from a few days old).

Once years ago, we had a deep snow and my husband shoveled paths for the horses to their heated water container but then, we just had a small number. We've got six paddocks now and a lot of horses. However, they're not having any trouble making their way around and even the mature mares are rough housing with each other :)

Most of the dogs though are little so Harvey does shovel places for them :)
