Anyone have one?

Thinking about picking one up and was wondering if anyone has any tips they could pass along. I've read and read about them but also know that people only write what they want you to hear.

Someone I know used to own a pet shop some years ago, and sold one of them. Several times. It kept coming back after the people who bought it found out it really wasn't anything like a domestic cat. From what I gathered they're something like a "working" breed of dog, in that they need something to occupy them, or they'll find something on their own. Apparently quite destructive as a house pet, they're very active and need constant attention.

I got tore up by a stray kitten the other day, frickin thing chewed into me, I can't imagine getting hooked up with a Bengal , ouch !! Good luck though.

Yeah I know they are very active cats and as todd says almost dog like in that they will play fetch and get bored easily. They need lots of toys and high places to sit.

I found a forum and am getting more realistic views then just reading breeder links.

My only concern is that my house isn't big enough for his level of activity and my fish tanks as these cats love water.Tp the point they even jump into bathtubs with you lol.

They are very smart and very trainable. The people that are returning them because they aren't what they expected just never took the time to train. These cats can even be toilet trained.

All cats are trainable. Even old cats can learn new tricks, although they tend to be less malleable than kittens. As for the Bengels, I have no experience with the breed, but I've read that they are the feline version of wolf hybrids. In my opinion, wolf hybrids are lousy pets for most people and the same may be true of Bengels.

we have 3. Just make sure you use a reputable breeder. We LOVE ours. They are definitely not a lay around lazy cat. I also strongly suggest you get 2 at the same time if possible. Unless you have nothing but time to play with the cat!! Our 3 love each other. If one leaves for some reason or gets stuck somewhere which is common (they will go in any closet, basement attic, hole in the all, whatever)...the other 2 will go room to room calling them. It is very funny.
I think they are wonderful pets. They are incredibly smart. Almost too smart. They are all great with our young kids...3.5 and 7 years old. They keep the dog in line. They are funny as everything to watch. They also are low shedding (don;t believe the things you read that say they don't shed all). Plus, they are gorgeous!!
Anyway...I highly recommend them, they are wonderful pets!!!

Most people don't really know or understand what a bengal cat is or that they are so far removed from their wild ancestors that they are no longer considered a "hybrid" or "wild" breed. I suggest you talk to a breeder or two, and go see their cats. I guarantee you will fall in love!

You are welcome to PM me if you have more questions!

Put them in the crock pot, pour some BBQ sauce over them and stick them in on low for about 10 hours. The meat should peal right off the bones and you can make some pretty good sloppy joes that way.

yea i heard they are very loyal and can cover large distances to find their owners. And yes they are active happy cats that will tear your house apart wile playing. They have great coloring though.
