Mafia #70: The Time Vortex

I'm sure to also cause some confusion with people, now the thought will be "were they both mafia" or at least that is what he would be hoping if you are innocent. Could be either way as I see it right now, either he didn't name you because you are innocent and he want us to think you are mafia because he didn't name you....or he didn't name you because you are mafia and he wants us to think the opposite way. See...confusion, it makes you second guess why he did what he did.

That is a possibility LG. I have given it much thought and either way, I look just as bad.

However, I have gained a few insights,if you will, from D1.

Last game I found that you and I agreed on a lot of things, not knowing each other's roles, I had you down as innocent.

This game however, I don't see where you are coming from on a few of your posts so will pull them and reevaluate to determine your status.

As I mentioned I found that questioning, (and my spreadsheet I have just started using) helps me keep track and make comparisons better.

So I will continue questioning.

Uggh. That one was really complicated. It was basically 3 games merged together into one. Each of the evil forces (3 of them) had corresponding innocent PRs. I'll try to sum up the format a little.

1. KGB operatives (evil) vs. CIA agents (good).
2. A single Demons who could turn innocents into possessed souls (evil) vs. Priests who could exorcize them.
3. Dead innocents searching for the keeper of a ring. Had they found that person (the Mayor), they would all be resurrected (and turned evil).

There were also regular townies as PRs.. the Mayor, a Journalist, and I forget who else...

The problem being.. some of the evils were able to communicate (possessed demons) while other evils couldn't (KGB). There were hits and investigations on both sides, and a newspaper headline where investigation results could be published. There were code words embedded into the game thread which identified who the KGB was.

How in the world did you remember that much?

Here is a copy of part of the kgb role -

You are a KGB spy.

You have been sent to the town to try and locate the source of a rumour that the Americans have found a deadly weapon buried in a local gold mine.

There are 5 of you. KGB Agent Rat (leader), KGB Agent Gerbil (assassin), KGB Agent Mole(assassin), KGB Mouse (investigator), KGB Agent Hamster (investigator).

However due to the town's communications being down and the fear that you are being followed by CIA agents- *YOU MAY NOT COMMUNICATE IN PRIVATE*. All conversation must take place on the game forum.

You can try to send each other coded messages in the main forum. The town do not know your code names so you can try and incorporate that into your coded communications with each other. Most of the town also do not expect spies to be in their midst.

You have also been taught the following code words that you may hide in your communications with each other:

SNOW = kill (lynch)
FISH = kill (assassinate)
NORTH = investigate
COLD WATER = I am on this mission
BLIZZARD = Need advice

Try to sound normal whilst communicating with each other- the code words have been designed to blend with the game's forum and theme (1960's Alaska).

There was a town drunk too. Who would witness something incorrectly because he was impaired. The demons could turn people too, so that team was recruiting players the whole time.

There was absolutely NOTHING about aliens in that game though. Pappy, that's just horrible you would pick that game for us on Day 1!

Yeah...any thoughts on this? I took it as there intended victim was going to be Hooked but he was lynched....or it was Mollies, Red but they UDed?

Based on the priority of nightly happenings, it would have been HN or Rich. As UDs happen last, ILM or TRS would have been killed before UDing.
Also, Pappy's post said it wouldn't have mattered anyway, so I'm guessing it was Rich.

Yes, Mad; I'm glad I didn't move my vote. :silly:

crap, sorry guys, I have been unexpectedly inundated with work this past week so wasnt able to keep up... however, the weekend is on and even though I did bring work home, I will be able to catch up and get back in the groove with the game. The great news is that we got one scum in a lynch... I'm not really sure what happened to get to that point, but I will be able to catch up tomorrow and give my input... again, really sorry.... I had a few mod things to check on in the site but then I am out tonight... I am exhusted

Here HN uses the code word fish.

Last game I had you innocent, for the most part...this game I had you as scummy so of course we wouldn't agree.
But yes, ask away.

That was still one of my early games and it drove me insane the whole time. But that was the first time I played as a PR where I didn't get myself lynched on like Day 1 or 2. It might even be the first time I lived through to the end... so I really had to get into that one.

I was also the journalist so I had to investigate people, then figure out how to submit headlines that would help the town pick out the scum. But all my invests were innocents until I got turned by the demon/archangel (lmao)... and all I could put in the headline were KGB people using the code words... without outing my evil teammates. So I started out good but didn't stay that way.

I see, but do you think they were innocents or scum after him?

Pap, thanks for making my mind twist even more than it already was...couldn't you of eased us into this a little:crazy:

So here's a couple of questions:

Did hooked switch off Wiz to protect him and then back on when it was obvious to everyone that HN was the lynch target (again to protect Wiz)?

There are five players with multiple votes whose votes never landed on Hooked: LadyG, Zsand, John, Zaffy, Noods

Communication:
Now, I'm assuming that the mafia can communicate. Of course, I hadn't considered this until just an hour or so ago, but even if they couldn't communicate, then they should still know who each other is.

SO, was there an effort to save hooked newbie?

I had prepared some thoughts on the concerted effort to save Wiz, when hooked turned out innocent, but since he's mafia, was there any effort to save him?
I don't really see one. Everyone who voted for hook, stayed there.

At this point, The Wizard is highly suspicious, but is it really just saving his own rump, or was it throwing HN under the bus?

So, my top suspects are (not necessarily in this order): TheWiz, Zsand, John, LadyG, Noods, Zaffy.

Unfortunately, I can't really think of anything to ask that would help me decide right now.

I am fairly sure they had no idea who each other were. In the game this night was based on, it all code words.

So your top suspects are wiz and the "players with multiple votes whose votes never landed on Hooked: LadyG, Zsand, John, Zaffy, Noods"?
