DIY Compact Fluorescent (CFL) Strip Light Retrofit

i spent 20 min in both lowes and home depot, and couldnt find anything that looked like it would work, nothing has mounting brackets on it, are you guys only ordering them online now?
 
Ya I did find some at Ace by my house but they were like $11 EACH!!!!!!!!!!!

IMO mail order is the way to go!
 
Ace had them for 10 bucks. But they also had a whole fixture with that socket style for 5-6 bucks.

I ended up getting a few single sockets from true value
 
Ace Hardware sold me the exact one the OP got, for $5 this morning! woot! now i can finally do this! I had to bend the brackets a little bit to make it shorter, since this is going in a 16" light strip..

wait.. i forgot white paint!!!! :*( :(

looks good what wattage did you go with... looks like you could almost sneak a single in there,, but maybe not...
ive coverted all my strips to cfls except my t5
