Fish Sanctuary

what are you going to do when you run out of room for rescues? are you going to attempt to sell or give them away to responsible aquarists to open up some more space?
Run out of room? Pshhh, nah! lol :D
Well, we will be building a 200+Gallon indoor pond for the larger rescues, and then we will have the larger tanks (55-60 Gallons) open for other smaller rescues. BUT if something does go wrong that we do need to clear out some space, we will adopt out some of the fish. And yes, to responsible aquarists. ;) We have 30 tanks that range from 10-60 Gallons at the moment, so we should be set for awhile.

28 fry total! Stripped the rest today, seeing that the female was getting beat up, and fairly underweight. Now with an empty mouth, she will probably go back to terrorizing the tank, lol.
Guess I was wrong, lol. Notice she still wasn't eating last night, took her out, and she had 17 more fry in her mouth. She is now eating and terrorizing the tank once again. :D
45 total. :)

EDIT: Sounds like I've got another rescue coming up this weekend. I'll keep you posted on that. ;)

Update #12
Been awhile since the last rescue, and today I just picked up a few more.
There are two, the first is a Frontosa Cichlid, the original owner did not want him due to his "pug like" face. He is about 2", and is now in the 50-Gallon Breeder tank with the other Cichlids. Very shy, but I managed to snap a few pics of him before I released him into the tank.
The second I completely forgot the name of, but it is a Mbuna species, and came from the same person not wanting him because he has a deformed spine, and cannot be used for breeding purposes. It is also about 2", and is also in the same tank as the Frontosa. Found a spot under the filter to claim as his territory, lol. Unfortunely, I couldn't get a pic of him yet, but I will try again!
Great guy, has a bunch of different tanks with Cichlids (Apistos, Peacocks, Calvus, etc.), Plecos and other Catfish, and Angel fish. He is a breeder, and has a bunch of Eureka Red Peacock Cichlid fry, and gave me a few just for taking the other two. Should be about six or so, at least two males. 1/4"-1"

More nice looking potential!

Thank you. Hoping to start a new breeding project with the Eureka Reds.

Also, the 2nd rescue was a White Top Hara, still no pics. Hides under the filter too much, lol.

Wow, this is just amazing...I have always had a soft heart when it came to animals and I hope that one day (when I move out) I can set up something like this (though probably on a smaller scale) You are so inspirational! :)

Thank you very much, I appreciate it. :)
Maybe have yet another rescue today.

Thanks guys. Here is another update I didn't post yet. Should be two more yet, then I'll post a NEW update on how all of the rescues are doing as of now. (Also, you can't see the previous update unless the skin of the site is set to a different, darker, color. Sorry about that...)

Update #4
Picked up some more rescues last night.
First we have a mix of community fish. The family had someone give them the tank for free, but they like Saltwater fish, so that's where I came into play, lol. Now, I'm not very good with naming Tetras, but I think I should know what they are;
3x Neons
3x Glowlight Tetras
3x Black Neons
Also...
1x Bushynose Pleco
1x Albino Cory fish
1x Peppered Coryfish
6x Glowfish
Lately I've been after all of the more exotic stuff, so going back to Tetras and other common community fish just doesn't feel right, lol.
Now, enough with the little stuff, time for a fairly decent sized )v(onster! Yet another JD, but this time a bit larger. About 8", to be exact. At first the two JDs were not getting along, as shown in the pictures, but as time went on the started to calm down a bit. He was actually from the same person that has the Tiger Ocsar. I knew that I would be back there for him eventually. They wanted Tetras and stuff, and after putting a bunch in with the JD he soon ate them all. An 'a dur' moment for me, but what ever makes them feel good I guess, lol.
And finally, pics. Got two of the Common Pleco rescue also.

Your last picture has Glo-fish in it, and they appear to be extremely overfed.
Ps. This thread has inspired me to start looking to adopt fish rather than buy them....
