My discus fry are now 3/4 of an inch and the parents are going through the routine of wanting to mate again what is the best way to move them without injuring them? I have a another tank ready just getting some ideas; they are eating on their for the most part. Thanks.

I never raised discus .. but with my angels i just carefully scoop them up and move them over.

Thanks, I don't seem to be getting much advice on this subject. My blue discus is wanting to mate again which could cause some problems with the existing fry so I need to move them soon.

a LARGE cup or a piece of tupperware dedicated for fish use would work good. Just herd them in with the net in one hand, and transfer them with the tupperware. What size tanks do you have them in, and are there any pics???

the problem with discus is they stay with the parents for a long time.. and they get pretty big.

my normal method of catching fry is using a hose suck them up with a siphon and into a bucket.. believe it or not this is pretty stress free.
but at 3/4" this may not be an option.

the babies should actually be pretty tough..
I've used nets on dime sized baby angels with no issues.

might be easier to catch with lower water or restricted tank and light off(at fist light they tend to be sleeping)

I downloaded pictures of the fry if anyone wants to see them. Thanks for the advice, I may need to move them today: I have a 20 gallon tank ready with water from the original tank.

pics are always good

Is anyone able to see my photos? The fry are doing well, though my blue discus is acting "freaky" swimming on his/her side acting like he is ill so I moved it to a new tank now is acting fine, a little upset that he was moved. This is why I love discus some can have a lot of personality. He is wanting to mate so could be upset the other is not wanting to? Who knows.
