Does anyone here own any or have prior experience owning tarantula's like the Mexican Red Knee, Pink Toed, Chilean Rose??? Im asking for my sister. She want's to own some tarantuala's and these three are said to be good begginer tarantula's. I did some reading but now I want some personal opinions and views on these often looked down upon marvels of nature. Any and all info would be appreciated.

I have a rose female. They are great for beginners, but my advice is this; get her a very small juvenile. I got mine as a baby, it was the size of a quarter, maybe a half dollar. I was terrified of the big ones, so I got a baby that I felt comfortable handling. She just had her last molt, so she is full grown and totally handleable. The other benefit is that a female will put out pheromones that will keep all other spiders out of your house, the range of the pheromone is HUGE!! Anyway, hope this helps!!

very interesting! i'll still take a few house spiders over a tarantula though! lol.

never been into tarantulas, roaches yes tarantulas no weird i know, i would look around on some bug forums and see what people say about good beginner spider.

Glad there is someone out there who actually likes Roaches....You can take EVERY last one as far as I am concerned lol. *shivers*

Sorry I have no good advice on the keeping Tarantulas, I just read the roach comment and had to say something. lol

nice

if its for a younger person i would go with the rose ...females have a better temperment and live quite a bit longer than males...i find these to be the most handelable as well...all the tarantulas you have listed are good beginer pets....just remember that the pink toe or any other avicularia are aborial so generaly climbing ...a warm temp...78-82....feed once a week ...clean water...humidity acording to species and your good...

I have kept several species of tarantulas. Rosie's are a great beginner species. Get a female juvie if you can. I would advise against handling. It is the easiest way for the spider to get injured. I kept some very aggressive species so handling wasn't really an option. Also, at first I kept my rosies at room temp. They would not eat very often. I then heated the enclosure and they would eat more often. Keep in mind the molting process is hard on the spider. Keep the temp up and the humidity above 60% during this critical phase.

Sorry, can't help you. I'm not much into Tarantulas but I love Scorpions. If only the Mrs. would let me keep them...
