greech's Simple 40 Breeder

Stopped by a local reefer's house and picked up a couple of $5 frags.

Birdsnest that needs to color up but I have seen the colony it came from. Should be a purple with green tips on the polyps.

And some blue zoas with yellow skirts. These seem to have two layers of very pointed skirts almost like a paly. Really bright blue and yellow though.

you are using the top sand correct?

i know in 1 post you said you had oolitic and it blew all over the place, but that is the only 1 i could find that says select.

should i be good with the top 1 for the 30 breeder, or should i use the special grade?

Started with Bahamas Oolite (live)

Ended up with mostly Aragamax Select (dry)

I still have some Oolite in there but I siphoned a fair amount out before adding the other. I've seen tanks with the Seafloor Special Grade and the Fiji Pink and those are nice too. HTH

got an email from marine depot that my tunze were in stock, so just ordered them and pretty much the rest of the stuff i needed today.

i decided to go with the fiji pink. said it ranges from .5 - 1.5 so i think that will be a great happy medium.

can't wait for next week.

i don't know greech, i think you got a great thing in what you have now.

i know i don't even have water in the tank yet, but i really feel this is going to be the perfect size tank, as it has enough room that i can add SOME of the things i have really wanted and i really feel that 30-40 gallons is never going to feel like it is becoming a job to keep up like the bigger tanks.

if something becomes too much of a job i think the thrill goes out of it.

again, spoken from someone who has an empty tank

i do think you ought to get that potters that was on the divers den today though.

that would make your tank.

I was kidding to a degree. The breeders are a great size tank no doubt. I would love to have a tank that I could have at least one tang in someday but that's a ways off.

Divers den had a pair of Potter's the other night. Wold love to have had those with my pair of clowns
