20 Gallon Tacky Tank

You know what? I feel the same way about the deformed bizzare cats and dogs as I do about deformed fish. Selective breeding for color or other normal characteristics like size, coat pattern, temperament, being good at a given task such as herding, etc. are all fine in my oppinion. But purposly deforming them because you think it's cute, any animal, is wrong and disgusting.

:thm:

Okay, can we end this debate and can a mod delete all the irrelevent, argument starter posts here? This whole darn tank is supposed to be a fun tank to see what my twisted imagination + tacky stuff could come up with. Opinions on slective breeding for appearance is completely irrelevant to the thread topic and will only get A)us banned, B)my thread closed, or C)both, so I would really apreciat it if people didn't get up in arms over something as small as a single comment on ballon mollies and possibly adding them to the tank. Gods this was never meant to be a mean thread, but look how it ended...

Actually you're making a big deal out of nothing FF, people gave their opinions and you chose to have a problem with them. You could've just ignored them....

Why not stock this tank with fish from your 40b? You're overstocked in that one, so why not move a species of ram and maybe the serpaes into here?

Well to add a positive note, I'm excited for this tank! Sorry no bubble volcano for ya. Can't wait for pics!!

this is a good point but once a person gets their mind set on something its hard to change it.

Because when I think tacky I don't usually think GBR and Serpae Tetra :) It's a good idea, if I can catch the little buggers in a month or so (when the tank is fully set up) I'll try it.

The balloon mallies were never a definit anyway, I was thinking out loud... never had a set plan for the tank (it was oroginally going to be a naturallistic Scarlet Gem Badis breeding tank, then a tacky version of a SGB breeding tank, and now I don't know what it's gonna be. So I was never set on the balloons, just annoying that you guys hate them so throughly.... the fish themselves never did anything wrong.

Anyhow, I have the plants (shalf of them, anyway) some rocks, and the tank itself, as well as some nice, coloroful pots :D When I get the clown puke gravel and the rest of the plants I'll be setting up the tank officially. For now it's in the planning and cleaning phase (have sand I need to remove) so we've got time to work out kinks. Anyonw know where I can get a new impellor for a Marineland Penguin 200?

i wasnt trying to be mean :) i have nothing against the individual fish but against the people who make them. even if you didnt buy them someone else would and probably wouldnt give them a cycled tank. ive never liked mollys thought :P you should get some lyretail guppys those are awesome!

I would need to find the lyretail guppies though.... that's the biggest issue for me and fish. I can't find Glofish, Balloon Mollies, or good colorful lyretail anythings except at PetsPlus, and the fish there look half dead already (almost pulled a pity buy on 3 Scarlet Dwarf Gouramis for 5.99 each) so they're out. Captain Nemo's may have some lyretail guppies, but IDKFS. Petsmart and Petco don't, I've been to the stores enough to know they have only genaric fish.

Anyone know how big Rosy Red Feeder Minnows get? (Not that I plan to buy them, I already have 4 out back in my 10-15 gallon DIY planted, unfiltered pond with a molly) They may end up being winter housed in the Tacky Tank if they won't get too big for it as adults.
