?Tanked?, a New TV Show for Aquarium Enthusiasts

Had the same thoughts on the hair products Ace. That was a beautiful tank otherwise though!

Just not a good show.

I didn't even coonsider that.... Were the poles metal? I missed the explanation but they looked like PVC... I did see some good aspects and some not so great. I didn't like how they handle fish. They use bare hands to hold them and keep them out of the water for some time... But then again they explained a few good things to do with new fish when doing the QT system. One thing I have not seen yet (and may or may not come) is about cycling. It wouldn't take too much time to give the basics but I hope that they will mention it sometime in the show... High hopes?

Would be great if they got back to the basics a little but this looks like high end projects with high dollar clients that want an instant ocean because...well, because they can. Right after they get done talking about the importance of a good QT they turn around and throw a dozen fish into a brand new tank/car. Although I gotta admit filling the tank through the gas tank was a pretty sweet touch :)!

I don't know what kind of filtration was on that but looked like some major canister type filter. It may have been one those $5,000ish filters I saw somewhere a while back.

I relly liked that tank and I had the money, I'd be all over it! Haha! One thing I didn't like though was the changing lights. they were so bright, they overpowered the fish. Just my opinion but other than that, very nice!

From the looks of the shop owner's home tanks it seemed like the guy was pretty serious about the hobby. Maybe he'll take care of the fish and move them until the car tank is ready.

I must have been away from the TV... I didn't see that part but I hope he knows what he's doing.

The mockup pole in the shop was PVC but they said the pole in the tank was stainless steel.

I didn't get that feeling. The other rich snobs who got the QT system seemed to be slightly more serious about the hobby, although I hope the filtration was done properly, but after watching him working on the broken pipe it didn't seem like it. Each one of those tanks needs to be on their own filtration system, not sharing one, or you just share all the diseases and parasites. With as many expensive fish as they put into the QT system initially it will only take 1 bad fish to kill them all. The car shop guy, and his wife more so, just seemed to like the "pretty" of the tanks but didn't seem all that into the hobby. I think anyone who is seriously into the hobby, like die hard, has to be into corals. If you have 4+ large tanks at least one needs to be a reef tank with real corals and not a fish only (which a lot of those fish shown were fish only tank fish). I thought the "car tank" was hideous, but that is personal opinion. Those LED lights were terrible and did nothing to help the tank at all, but the LED lights on the QT tanks were perfect.

Not huge into saltwater but those seemed like pretty weak reasons for the top aquarium fish.... "Geat color, hardy, eat well, umph for a tank" very scientific!

Wow Ace, did you see how sick that tang looked? It's pretty clear these guys think the fish are just as much a decoration as the tank itself.
