I would say your best bet would be start buying from online stores, such as petsolutions, drs foster and smith, big als, etc. You know that when you buy from them you are getting a quality product, with actual customer service. You pay more, but at least your arent getting cheap knockoffs. And you wont have to deal with private sellers...

There is always a risk on auction sites like ebay, aquabid, etc. and the trade off is lower prices. Most actual stores with a customer service department will ensure you are purchasing quality items and you can pretty much guarantee there is no wear-and-tear...it's really up to you where to spend your money but sometimes it is hard to trust the person behind the screen. I would much rather buy things from AC members as well.

In the interest of good will, would you like to test some new fish foods for me? All you have to do is test the food and document your findings. i.e. growth, color, size. etc. It would be perfect if you used two tanks with the same type of fish for comparison. I would not exactly be free food because of the paperwork and perhaps a few pictures.

+1

I've been saying this a lot lately, but sorry about your luck. Another option would be to look at vendors here that you hear a lot of positive feedback about.

That's pretty compassionate, yet self serving (I know it sounds bad, but I mean it in a good way, just can't think of a better word/phrase at the moment) at the same time. Get some testing, while reducing the cost of feeding her fish. Wish I were in a situation where I could do that, too.

Mutually beneficial :)

To be fair, for every story I hear like yours, there's people like me who have had over 200 transactions on ebay buying and selling and only having one transaction go bad (item sent was counterfeit). I know it's easy to characterize ebay sellers as dishonest people, but in my opinion, most of them are honest people trying to make an extra buck here and there. Also, you'd be surprised how many dishonest buyers there are out there. It's ridiculously easy to rip off an ebay seller considering most disputes lean towards the buyer's favor.

Compassionate, yes. Self serving. . . . . well, yes. Mutually benificial, absolutely! So, are you up for almost free food? After all what are a few notes and a few pictures of fish in return. It's the barter system.

I had a bunch of people test this new stuff last year. I need to e-mail them for data, too.

Rjb3 there's nothing wrong with your message, but it doesn't belong here. Contact the OP directly with an offer if you wish. It's just for this thread, your posts are offtopic.

My suggestion instead would be to start a new thread of your own. That's what our marketplace is for.
