Science

Oh Heeeell no! :D

Science for me is whatever I want it to be. Granted, some things cannot be done at our current level of development, but I do not think that means they are completely impossible. Once upon a time, humans thought the earth was the center of the universe, and that was science for them. Today we know more. But knowing more is never knowing all, everything thing we discover leads to a new science to research. That is the reality of science. It changes as we gain a greater understanding of the universe. Maybe someday we'll find out that the speed of light isn't an absolute speed limit after all, or that gravity can be reverse (antigravity) or something similar. Then the text books are re-written, as they have been so many times beforehand.
HUH?

why so formal?
Just trying to show due respect. =)

OMG, will there be cake?

^^^ i was thinking more...

step:
1. collect underpants
2. ???
3. profit

but surely a cake topped with a maraschino cherry is tastier.

Science is not written in stone. It never was and never will be. Every time we learn something new, it creates questions the answers to which may be contradictory to what was previously considered fact. We simply move from one incorrect answer to a slightly more correct one, but never quite reaching that dangerous and boring thing called "correct". Science is an ever evolving and changing entity. I do not remember from where, but I do remember a science quote as follows: "Science isn't proving things right, it's trying to prove them wrong." That is the essence of science. Because of that, it could be proven in the future that everything we "know" as absolute, unchanging fact, could, indeed, be completely wrong.

I'm the fairly bright boy. Get decent grades and have a powerful mind.
Edward Teller said:
A fact is a simple statement that everyone believes. It is innocent, unless found guilty. A hypothesis is a novel suggestion that no one wants to believe. It is guilty, until found effective.
Facts are only facts until someone disproves them. They we look back and think "how could they have been so dumb?"
Arthur C. Clarke said:
If an elderly but distinguished scientist says that something is possible, he is almost certainly right; but if he says that it is impossible, he is very probably wrong.
Don't assume that what I say isn't possible simply because you think it isn't. You will almost certainly be wrong.

How does your whim create reality? Be as specific as possible please.

You should really try the Mafia Games, you'd kick arse there! I swear, I've never seen someone with the ability to twist things better then you, unless you really didn't get the point of my paragraph there...

What I was attempting to get across with my post was that science is more fluid then the OP states. Fact merely means we all agree that it's true, when something else comes along that seems to be more true, we move over to that idea and call it "fact". So, while we may collectively agree that something like "light speed" is the max speed, 50 years from now it could be proven that objects CAN move faster then light. My belief on science is that if you can think it up, all you need is time and energy to make it real. With enough time to develop antigravity, we could end up being capable of FTL travel, absolutely destructive weapons, and complete gravitational control. You need to keep your mind open, not seal it off simply because you *think* it can't be done.

Master plan? What master plan. No one said anything about a master plan to take over the world using endless babble.... um.... who wants cake? Yes, cake... :evil_lol:

no, no, no! let's go over the checklist again...

step:
1. collect underpants ___ check
2. ??? ___ this is where you're at now... seems ATM it has something to do with cake.
3. profit ___ dunno how you're going to pull this one off...
