Mafia 96 Who Are You? Game Thread

I disagree with you. Whichever team has the most communicating players is going to most likely win barring a lucky shot on one of the bosses.
But a lucky shot or lynch is all it takes. I think your scenario only comes into it much later in the game. If we get the real townies calling out what they see, we might have a chance to catch a slip and end it early. Alternatively, if people are not willing to share information and participate a little, we can leave it up to chance as you suggest.

How can I word this without giving away to much........ Don't think I can but ....

The Don and Mayor have a tough job. In the 1st few days do you choose players trying to build your team or trying to find players of the opposite side so you can try to take them out by swaying votes their way.

Its a bit harder for the Don to build their team because everyone is going to act innocent. But they could end up with a nice list of players to take down and by process of elimination know who is scum even if not in communication.

The Mayor on the other hand doesn't need to look for innocent players, they can just choose the best players and either find them scum or be able to communicate with them.

Thank you for stating the obvious. I don't see how this strategy is anything all that different. Yes, investigations help the bosses no matter what they get...why did you feel the need to make it seem like you had some secret, mind blowing strategy?

Its not about weeding out the needle in the haystack but if you pick up on something quick enough it might be as effective.

In a normal setup with communicating teams no one knows who is on that team except those on the team so how is it different?

When do we know when there is in fact a team? For all we know the bosses could be coming up empty. In a normal setup everyone is well aware that there is at least one team in communication from the beginning.

The only indicator would be a shot from the hitman/police but even then I don't think we would know which one used it unless Wiz makes it known in the write up.

I never said it was mind blowing only stated I didn't want to help the other team,I was able to write it up without giving away much. Took careful wording to make it a sterile post. Its really simple if you don't over think it.

I'll play your game but I find it disturbing that you are pushing for it so hard.

You have to assume at some point there is a team, I'm leaving it at that, you need to figure out the rest on your own.

You'd still know there was a team either way even if he doesn't say who took the shot.

Yup, pretty much my thoughts so far.

I know, but you still cannot assume that any possible connections are mafia connections. That was my point.

And the secrecy of it all made it seem more novel than it actually was...careful wording or not.

Dun, I think I see the point you're making. And in a normal game, where numbers actually mattered I might even agree with you. But in this game it's not about numbers. It's not about finding "scum" it's about finding "the scum"... if you get my subtle nuance. Sharing who you think is acting scummy and why can only help the other townies have more perspectives to look at. At this point in the game, the scum are largely impotent. They may (although highly unlikely) have one hit, but they do not have enough votes to swing the vote their way. The more information we share now, can only help the town.

In that vein:

I'm highly suspicious of AAF. His vote switch seems like it was pressured, and the only place I can see that pressure coming from is trying not to draw attention when FF got lynched.

I'd like to hear waaaaay more from MC. It seems like he just disappeared. I understand having a rough schedule and all, but I think there are one or two questions still floating around out there for him.

Zaffy. Not much input really so far, and I'm not going to let him drop off the radar if I can help it.

the only pressure i felt was to not UD. i didnt feel comfotable voting someone when i hadnt even caught up yet so i went to spence who had no votes.
