I do have the money to buy it, but no way to get to Petco or another pet shop, since I don't own a car. I am in need for a new breeder net cause the one I have in use kind of broke on me. I have the same one you mentioned, I took the plastic plants out of it and placed peices of live plants I have trimmed a little into it for them to hide in, they seem to enjoy it. I have guppy fry in there net with a single swordtail fry I mentioned to save from being eaten, they have gotten big, I say their abou a month old now or close to it.

Can you not ask your dad to bring you to the LFS...or use a bus...or ask a friend...or walk? I'm sorry, but at one point it was you cannot afford it, and now you can't even get to the store. I apologize if I seem rude, but the excuses keep piling up.

Don't buy the breeder net, you don't need it. Just like you do not need the carbon nor the Pima/Melafix either. I'll echo what Sub already said...stick to the water conditioner and water changes and you're fish will be just fine and you will be saving more money.

I'm sure we're all waiting with bated breath to hear why you can't mail order what you need!

Not to mention that she just said she doesnt have time to do water changes because she works too much, but when asked about affording stuff she said she only works part time... I work 40-80 hours a week and have time even on the busiest week to do two water changes on my 20g and my 38 gallon (have fry) and my 46 gallon (goldfish grow-out for my pond). Not to mention one water change every week on the other 4 tanks...

A few months ago she didnt even have a syphon cause she couldnt "afford" one, yet she has all these fish... and very few of them are appropriate for a tank that size or compatible with each other.

She is just a horrible fish abuser that likes to get attention from others and refuses to listen to good reason or take advice. She has been told many times by multiple people that if she doesnt have the time and cant afford to take care of her fish properly, she should rehome them and not keep fish until she can. That is the best bet for the fish and probably for her. If you dont have time to take care of them, how do you even have time to enjoy them? You'd think after 10 years in the hobby she would have learned how to do things right. Being in the hobby for 10 years is really not a bragging point when educated, experienced fish keepers tell you that you are doing everything wrong.

We are better off just ignoring her. Maybe she'll get the point that we dont want to associate with someone who treats their fish like that and will clean up her act.

Everyone has their own ways for rasing and caring for their own pets. I just yelled at my dad a few weeks ago for throwing his pleco into his pond, which it died shortly after. He wanted me to put my old pleco in the pond, I said no and took mine for a petshop, cause he gotten way to big for my 37 gallon, along with my spotted repheal and ruby shark [rainbow]. I may take out the gourmai, he started chasing my angelfish around. I kept half of these fish for over 3 years, which includes the large angelfish I have, which was in my old 29g. I haven't had any illnesses in my tank for awhile and they seem to be doing just fine.I don't abuse my fish, if I abused them they would all be dead, even the ones I had in my old 29g which I still have a few left.

I can't walk to the petstore cause its across a highway and the light doesn't stay red for to long. I may just ask if I could use my dad's text kit.

oh my....... a light isn't staying red for too long?? that's your excuse now?? it's called running across to ensure you get across in the right amount of time. i've done it plenty of times, and i'm sure you can too.

your fish had/have fin rot. that is a disease. so don't say that your fish have not had diseases for a while, because they have.

stop making excuses, stop buying crap you don't need. get a LIQUID test kit, do water changes, and quit with all the excuses.

i work full time, 40 hours a week, i am a single parent, i do a lot to take care of my dad, and i properly take care of two tanks and i have two pet chinchillas too. all the housework, laundry, etc is all me too. if you can't find an hour a week to do a proper water change, then you should not have a fish tank, plain and simple.

I have a 10 gallon and a 37 gallon, the 10 is in my room on my desk. I treated my betta and he for some reason won't get better, the other 3 bettas seem to be fine. The tank is divided into 4 with a japanese algae eater shimp in each section. I do change about 10% of the water from this tank every other day. I have to get some aquarium salt to see it that'll help his fins and look for a test kit or order one on Amazon next week.

so in addition to this 37 gallon that isn't being taken care of properly, you have a 10 gallon divided into 4 parts for 4 bettas and 4 larger shrimp? that's such a teensy amount of space for each betta, and i'm sure each section is narrow and tall, leaving for little swim room. i'm not surprised one is stressed and sick. but wait, as per your post above "I haven't had any illnesses in my tank for awhile and they seem to be doing just fine". so fish dying, fish with fin rot, and a betta that doesn't seem to be getting better is your fish being healthy and doing just fine??

The good API test kits on amazon are about 18 dollars, that's a good deal.

That was an unexpected twist. Too bad the daytime soap opera is a dying genre, you could have had a fine career as a writer.
