Any ideas for things I can use as aquariums stands that would be cheap? I'm thinking types of desks or tables I could find second hand that could take the weight.

And easier than building stands myself? I don't have the energy to do it now.

Around 29 gallons, not really anything larger or I'd get/make a real stand.

a nice real wood dresser would hold a 29. i have a 55 on an older all wood dresser.

Cinder blocks and plywood.

That's about as easy and cheap as it gets and actually I don't think looks too bad. Especially if the wood is painted. I've seem them with the cinder blocks painted too and alternate a different color on the wood and it's pretty cool looking. In fact, I think I may set one up soon that I need for a couple of 10 gallons (wanted to set them side by side). Thanks for the reminder :)

Or go to Craigslist under the free section and ask if anyone has an old nightstand/chest to giveaway.

Freecycle is good place to check too if they have a group in your area.

Kitchen cabinet.

i was also thinking of trying the cinderblock and plywood setup, and i think i will since it'll be cheaper than buying a tank lol

word of caution.
furniture not desigend to hold an aquarium may not be a good idea.

chest of drawers may not be able to support the tank safely.. I tried it on a chest of drawers and discovered the drawer area is really not designed to hold the weight.. after filling up a 10 gal tank I tried the drawers.. they were being pinched by the tank and were a little hard to open. the area where the drawers are is NOT supported as it is the opening for the drawers..the wood flexed in this case creating issues opening the drawer.. which points to sturcturl integrity issues.

I would advise in the case of cheap alternatives to build a DIY stand or look for something on CL(btw furniture is not cheap and an aquarium stand would prob be cheaper to make of buy)
