Not positive but I think thats "Willow Leaf Hygrophila" - Hygrophilia corymbosa 'angustifolia', which is a stem plant and as such will take most of it's nutrients from the water column. That's not to say it won't take any through the roots - but it's roots are mostly to anchor the plant in the substrate. I's use a liquid fert before I'd use root tabs with this particular plant

:iagree: It just looks densely planted though.

I wouldn't say it is wrong but the light may not get to the inner leaves very well like that. I would suggest spreading it out a little if possible.

Most plants are fine, vals and subwassertang are examples of plants that aren't.

Yes, that looks better. Never apologize for asking questions, it is the questions that aren't asked that need apologizing. :)

Excel does melt vals (although some have used it in small dosages without issue), do you have vals? If not it is safe to use. Some people have found it is not very shrimp friendly either though.

I dont think i have vals...here is my tank BTW, i have a couple of amazon sword, anubias, java fern, and i think ludwigia.

does ludwigia need root tabs? or seachem flourish is enough?
