Black beard algae?

That and if it will really help this guy out in this situation, then I would like to know we gave this guy and everyone reading this in the future all the possible options we could.

Authmal, its okay, I was just trying to aggervate freshy fresh because he mentioned it but thanks for trying to answer it for me. You A OK in my book. No worries. I know metricide 14 is like a type of substitute for algae killer or co2 I believe. I was just really wanting to hear someones opinion on it that wasnt trying to sell it etc.

In that case, carry on! I'm all for aggravating Freshy!

Um, sorry, Freshy?

LOL! Parrottbay, I never saw your inquiry back in this thread. I'm still on a ~16oz bottle of API's liquid CO2, but may try Metricide 14 next.. Haven't tried it yet, but i've never heard a complaint using this as a carbon source.

Thought I would give an update... I purchased this T5 HO fixture, and had them change the bulbs to 2 Pinks and 2 6500K Bulbs. I will be running just two lights until I decide to go with CO2...

Now I just need to buy some flourish excel. I was going to spot treat by pulling the plants out, and using a squirt bottle to dose the excel solution directly on the plant... What is the recommended ratio for that? and does that sound like a bad idea compared to others?

All I did was take a 10 ml syringe, fill it with Excel, and slowly spray it on the afflicted areas. Turn off all circulation before you do that, and move slowly and smoothly to move the water the least. I do it during water changes, before putting water back in. I'd pick a spot on each end and one in the middle, to try to minimize the water I moved.

Keep in mind the "running just two lights" part. Won't be anymore than you're using, Freshy.

I hear you, but what's the point in buying a fixture with 4 lamps then? Rotate between K ranges just for visual effect?

Because if I ever want to jump to sw, I don't ever have to go buy another fixture. I think about the possibilities in the future when buying something like a light fixture. And besides, why not?
