University of Guelph scientists have found that they do feel pain. I'm not sure of the paper for it, I no longer have access to the library but I remember my animal behaviour and welfare professors talking about it.[/QU +1There are so many different studies saying they do.

Tons. Also, tons that say they don't. I think they feel pain, but just regard it differently than mammals. Since many are opportunistic feeders, they're going to try to eat, even if they've been recently hooked. I also think that the people conducting the studies are innately biased because they can more easily empathize with a mammal's pain.
The thing is, it shouldn't be dogma whether or not fish feel pain. Most aspects of science in general, if properly done, shouldn't be entirely dogmatic. But as far as I know and as far as many scientists know, there's pretty good evidence for the fact that fish feel pain and respond to it. Being animals and being vertebrates and having a few other significant mutual traits with humans, it's likely that the ability to feel pain is one of those mutual traits. There's many other ways to support the argument for their sentience but that's just one . . .
Mine has long since done so. Find an article on MSN or Yahoo. Read the comments. Proof that Idiocracy is coming, and that's a sad thing. The comments on the article are making my faith in humanity plummet.
