55g or 75g?

Of the two -- 75 every time. Bigger footprint means more surface area: more options with scaping; being able to add more fish; etc., etc.. My local LFS often does $1/gal sales so it doesn't have to be the biog box stores where you'll find a deal; and where you are located, you should have a plethora of options to choose from.

How big is a 60g Marineland tank BTW?

The tank is 48 3/8" wide 12 7/8" deep 24 7/8" high

IMHO i would go with a 75 if you can afford it. Get the best you can afford. The larger the water volume the longer it takes for things to go wrong in a tank. What i mean by that is;
Say you have both a 55 and a 75 with the same exact stock and everything, youll have water quality issues faster than the 75.
With that being said a 75 would make a more reasonable choice if you can afford to maintain one and have the space to do so.

I prefer the bigger footprint, gives better options in scaping layout. Keep in mind though that the Petsmart Top Fin and Marineland bundles lighting will be useless if your doing live plants.

If cost is not much of a factor to you, a 75g is much better as RoyW said, 55s are cheaper. I find the 20 inch height as much as I can reach to the bottom easily. A 90g is 24" tall, same footprint, just a bit too far at normal stand height for me, I'm 5'8". In terms of footprint a 75 is 50% larger than a 55, nice for bottom feeders & scaping.

It will be a few months till I can get the money saved up to upgrade...but I have more important things to care for. Just need some ideas... I am getting a smaller tank for one of my bettas... and may turn my 10g into a lizard tank.. not sure what I want to do..

75g :)

And if the 10g already has aquarium equipment, I'd save it for a QT tank, but that's easy to replace if you use it for a reptile

Are there any other limitations (such as the weight that the floor can handle) that would come into play?

and there are more than petco and pet supplies plus that run good sales on aquariums.

From memory, That Pet Place in Lancaster PA will have $1/gallon sales on larger tanks, at their customer appreciation and anniversary sales. I'm not 100% sure, but I think 75, 90 and 125g tanks are included also.
