20 gallon Tiger Barb tank...

I think 6 in a 20g will be fine.

I should have checked out this thread before I just stocked my 20 high tank with 8 very small tiger barbs.

I have a 40 long that I can set up. I need to make a stand for it. I can move them into it when they get larger.

They are about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch long now. Can you estimate how quickly they will grow and need to be moved out?

If fed with good food, water changes, correct temp, ect----maybe in about 6 months.

That's quicker than I thought. Fish grow fast don't they!

I spoil my fish, so they will get good care!

I wanted some corys for this tank. I think I'll hold off on them until I get the 40 set up. I don't want to overstock. Funny, I had a completely different idea in mind for this tank but when I couldn't find what I wanted, in the quantity I wanted, I went back to the tiger barb idea. I have always liked them. I wonder what their lifespan is. I'm off to search for that info.

i have 5 barbs in a community tank and they get along fine with my tetra's...whatever you do do not put them with guppies. they will rip them to shreds

Nice looking tank, welcome to AC!

I would like to suggest just a bit more area for your turtle to get onto and out of the water. It looks like what you have is a pretty small area. He'll most likely outgrow that tank as well, and don't be surprised if he starts picking at the snail. Sliders will eat anything they can catch. The barbs may be able to avoid him, but the snail isn't fast enough.

I have a spare 20 gallon tank and was thinking about setting it up to be a mainly tiger barb tank so i was wondering how many would be a good number too keep in the 20 and also if any other fish could go with them like sae or something??
I’ve tried tiger barbs in a 20h and it was big enough as far as size of the fish, but when they got aggressive with each other, there wasn’t enough room for them to get away from each other and one TB had the other 6 up in the corners. It might work for you, just have a plan if it doesn’t
