I think he looks normal to me too, pretty boy...but I prefer to offer a few different foods rather than just 1. You don't want to have a fussy feeder...& the way to do that is to switch off 2-4 times/week with maybe a day off of no food at all. He will get to try some different foods & not become obsessed with just the "right" 1...it could be discontinued at any time & then he may go on a hunger strike. you don't want that!

Just to add to the above, read the ingredients lists on his foods. The first 3 or so ingredients should be whole protein and plant matter. Not grains and fillers.

I know I've had problems trying to keep male or female bettas in community settings because they'd have a tendency to overeat.
