My second white-tipped tetra, who had ich, is trying to die. The others are starting to bite at him. Someone...come euthanize it for me when my kids aren't looking! I just can't. :help:

Might help to give what city you are in!
But in all liklihood, it's a goner before anyone could get there. The tankmates are pretty much taking care of that for you. If by "trying to die" you mean losing the ability to maintain neutral bouancy and swim, simply putting it in a dark container of aquarium water for 24 hours should do it. The refridgerator will speed things up, too.
Sorry to hear about it, but just know it gets easier to put them out the longer you're in the hobby.

Too sad...but its going to be better to take care of it as soon as possible. Try the cold water method, It's not difficult, and essentially painless to the fish from what I understand.

Sorry about your troubles.

EDIT: Better to euthanize now than to let the fish suffer.

yet it gets harder the longer youve had the fish....

I take him out back, lay him on the driveway, and smash him with a rock when they get like that. Had a betta get dropsy once. Its what i ended up doing to him. The way I look at it, if you realy care about the fish, its the only way to do it. Instantly put him out of his misery by turning him in to post-fish pulp

don't put the fish in the fridge. either drop it into a bowl of almost frozen water, or smush it.

by the way, have you treated your tank for ich?

You don't have to euthanize him...just let him die as he would naturally , it won't take much longer.

It's part of being a fish, you get sick and die...in the wild it's even worse because thier are crabs to eat your eyes out while you're still alive or a predator to chomp on you and eat you alive...

Smush?!?!?!?!?!?!?:thud: Sorry, no can do....

I took it out of the tank after I posted, and dropped it in ice water when the kids weren't around. We have one fish named Lazarus...'cuz he came back from what appeared to be a death state. Anything's possible. But the gourami was trying to eat his eyes, and I could not stand to see him suffer. Thanks for the help, folks....

Oh, and BTW, I did start treatment for ich yesterday. In fact, I posted here needing help.... But I made a separate thread as I thought this was a separate issue.

Thanks for your concern.

Heh, that reminds me of when I first started and I was losing fish to Ich because the salt treatment wasn't widely spread info yet, so if the fish looked bad, I'd put it in a ziploc and throw the bible at it, or a dictionary... depending on the fish's religious preference or lack thereof.
