Plants being unrooted

That gravel is too large for most plants. However, I would not mix in smaller gravel- filling in the spaces means roots will be impeded. Your pleco and loaches will continue to uproot plants in your size gravel before they have a chance to take root. Also- 2-3 inches depth is the minimum for most plants. I would replace the gravel if you can.

What do you mean impeded?

What I meant is will it kill the plants??

He's saying it will stop the roots from branching out for healthy growth, though I have not experienced this problem with my plants in mixed gravel or with root growth in the larger size gravel. Though smaller is better, either or will do, since that is what you have started out with. No sense in ripping it all out.

Petco still carries plant weights. That is the only thing I buy from there.
