New Feather Duster (Questions and Picture)

I have always been amazed by these beautiful creatures and decided to pick one up from my LFS to place in my tank. The one I bought had another tube extending from it. The second tube appeared to be empty and the pet store owner thought so too so they only charged me for one. Suprise, Suprise, I took it home and the second tube does have a beautiful crown extending from it. My only concern is their placement. They are intertwined together. I am afraid to pull them apart. Is it bad for them to be so close together? Also, I did some research on where they should be placed but all the info is a bit contradicting. I placed them right next to a rock so if they want to attach themselves to it they may.

And last, I heard they must be directly fed, is that true? I bought some freezedried plankton just in case. Should I feed them today or wait a couple of days for them to adjust?

Thank you ^^ I was pretty impressed by how well my LFS was taking care of them. Both seemed healthy and colorful. I got lucky too. They were the only ones left. I didn't realize how big they would be though. I have some very tiny colonial dusters (not too impressive) and the size difference is amazing.
 
they are fine to be intertwined. they should be spotfed with Cromaplex or marine snow.

Thanks :) I paid $9. Average price for one. Although the ones they sell are usually smaller than these. I didn't realize until I got home that I had the larger version of feather dusters.

Thanks, thats good to know. Any recommendation on when I should start feeding them and how often?

in addition to that id recommend Dt's live phytoplankton. and nice luck on the 2 for 1!

Thank you for the suggestion. I bet my damsel is going to think he hit pay day when I bring home several types of food. That guy will eat anything :P I figure I might as well sample a few different foods when I go out again either tomorrow or Monday.

I noticed you live in Queens NY .
I used to live in Malba drive in Whitestone . I live in Miami now which is great for marine collecting . I moved because hate the cold and its neat to catch stuff or just shake clumps of seaweeds and collect shrimps,etc.

I used to buy at Pet Barn in Long island . I didnt have salt than just white clouds in "planted" tank (most of the plants died) but the fish lived for yrs.
 
So I took the advice and bought live plankton for my featherdusters. I didn't realize until later that I bought zooplankton instead of phyplankton. Do you think that is okay to feed feather dusters?

Ah and they are doing well so far.
