I recently tested the water of my 55 gallon Cichlid tank using the Master Test Kit and the Ammonia, Nitrate and Nitrite reading are 0 ppm. The PH level is 8.2. Last week my readings were zero for everything except Nitrate which was 10 ppm. I've had this tank for almost 3 months. All fishes look healthy. Should I be worried about anything?

when is the last time you did a water change? I guess its possible you have super clean water, but I would be afraid somethind disrupted the cycle. I would test for the next couple of days to be sure nothing goes out of wack

I did a water change on monday and I do it on weekly basis. The only change that I made was that I replaced my Penguin 350 filter with an Aqua Clear 350 three weeks ago, but I still had my XP3 running. I did use old foam from the Penguin filter in my Aqua Clear. Hopefully everthing will stay in control.

I would expect some detectable nitrates unless you had done a major water change and drpped them below detectable levels. Any live plants?

I don't have any live plants in the tank. I did a 40% water change on monday. I am planning on doing another one tomorrow and will test the water again.

You know what? I would hold off on that water change and test it tomorrow instead. I would just wait to see if I get a nitrate reading after a couple of days. You may have simply diluted the nitrate to below a detectable level. Give it a day or four, and test it again to se if nitrate appears. If your tank is cycled, the nitrate should appear.

I will take another reading tomorrow and will post the results. Thanks!
