hardy fish

my harlequin rasboras are thriving in my cycle. I'll probably get shot down for suggesting them, but I really like them.

how do you know they are thriving? fish can't express discomfort like humans can.

I won't preach the fishless method, but overall its alot less work, unless you don't mind killing off some fish, permanently injuring them etc. I would not use fish that I hoped to keep for any length of time. When you use fish, you have to do a ton of water changes all the time or else the fish die on you, therefore eliminating the whole point of cycling with them. Its possible to cycle with fish, but IMO it is a PITA and not worth the hassle. I would highly recommend trying to find some biospira

Sounds like preaching to me......If they want to do a cycle with fish, I say go ahead. The thread is about hardy fish, not what kind of cycle.

if you want a hardy fish, go with goldfish, they produce tons of ammonia and can live through almost anything.
