any tips on how to get rid of snails? i always seem to get them after i get plants even tho i check the plant for eggs and snails they still seem to appear from nowhere. at the moment i just wait till there big enough and pick them out. any other ideas?

snails will obviously need a source of food in order to live. be extra careful about wasted food that sinks to the bottom or decrease amount of food fed at a single time. depending on snail size and amount, you can probably hand remove the majority of them.

Put a piece of blanched lettuce in there over night. In the morning, remove the snail-infested piece of lettuce.

wow and we want them and can not have them. when we had a few in our tank our fish ate them :) do you have big enough fish to eat them? non of our fish are over 2 inches long and they love the snails  ( I hope they were not bad for them.

hand remove the ones you can see and go through the gravel with a gravel vaccum to get rid of any eggs that could be in the gravel
all very good ideas. i like snails and think they are great for tanks.

They used to bother me to no end but now I have accepted the fact that they are quite good. I still take any big ones out on a daily basis so they do not overtake the tank but they do help keep the tank clean.
