Got 7 fry still alive from the spawn of about a month ago, babies are about the size of a pea, starting to get adult fins!

Been feeding them BBS (fresh and frozen) and Wardleys Baby fish food. How soon can I start on adult foods? (finely crushed flake, etc)

Bumbity-bump!

Anybody?

Buehler?

Buehler?

as long as it is a high-quality food with enough protein to allow them to grow properly, you can start feeding it as soon as they will take it.

We have had the best luck with using baby brine shrimp. I feed about six times per day. If you look at the fry and their bellys are not pink, feed them again. You can see the food in their bellys because their skin is thin. When you start to see the anal and dorsal fins come in then I start to feed VERY fine ground up flake. Start with flake for the first meal in the morning then alternate to shrimp for the second , then shrimp for the third and so on. We slowly change from the shrimp over to flake. I also alternate Daphnia, beef heart, and Cyclopse-eeze in there as well for treats.

you can try to feed them flake at 8-12 weeks.
I mixed flake with bbs finely crushed but not to a powder.

Thanks folks!

The fins are starting to come in (as well as stripes) so will start crushing up some flake for 'em.

Just got an in-tank BBS hatcher yesterday from the Doctors, so they will have the BBS as a back-up.
