Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone has ever seen white gravel turn a rusty color. When I cleaned the gravel with the syphon it wouldn't come off. What could it be? Not sure what all info you might need to answer this so please feel free to let me know.....I am new here LOL.

you dont keep anything metal in the tank ie hooks or anything with a metal surface???

Just near the glass? Algae.

No metal in the tank......tho at one time I did put some liquid plant fertilizer in the tank...not sure if that matters. So if it is algae.....do I just leave it alone? Is it a good algae? I will go touch it today to see if it comes off LOL.

Yup, algae. Had the same problem with my white gravel. Short of scrubbing it, I never could figure out a way to get it really white again. Just like yur white pants I guess. Slowly but surely, they ain't as white as they used to be. I finally went to blue/green gravel. Doesn't show so much on it.

Why would anyone put hooks in their tank?
I like seafood, but not when it's my pets.

hooks?
do you use tap water might have iron in it
speaking of metals does anyone keep those lead wights on clipped plants when you buy them i alway through them out seems like a stupid thing to put in a tank with live fish in it they don't like heavy metals right i have even seen them for sale as plant weights
